Feed My Starving Children Update!

If you haven’t heard what Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) is yet, check out the last post, which explains what Slo Crusade will be helping out with on November 11th and 12th.

Now that you are as excited as we are to be doing this, get ready for it to get even better. At the FMSC food packaging event, volunteers can bring 1-5+ cans to donate to the SLO Food Bank for their seasonal can collection campaign. This way, we can also love the people in need in our own community.

Finally, the Pappas family has decided to donate their sweet surf wagon to go towards the event! You can read more about their decision to give up this beautiful car, and their heart for FMSC at the Pappas family blog.

Anyone who donates $10 or more towards the FMSC food packaging (online, or at the event) will be eligible to win the surf wagon. They will have the car at the next two SLO Farmers Markets, and be selling tickets to win the wagon and support FMSC.

Feed My Starving Children

Feed My Starving Children is a food packaging event where we will put together 200,000 meals for malnourished children in Third World countries. SLO Crusade will be partnering with other students and clubs on our campuses to help feed the hungry!

HOW TO GET INVOLVED:
To volunteer and help package the meals click here.

To donate click here. By choosing to give up $15 (equal to fasting from two meals) you could fully cover the cost of the food you will package. The $15 you give up will feed a child for over a month! By simply fasting from two meals you will provide a child with nearly 63 meals!

WHEN: November 11-12 for all day Friday and Saturday. There will be ten packaging shifts over the two days. The shifts last 1 ½ hours each and you can choose one of the ten that works with your schedule. Below is the shift schedule, I am sure everyone can find an 1 ½ to sacrifice for such a worthy cause!

Fall Retreat!

Fall Retreat is happening! Get pumped up!

Some quick details as you pack up:
Don’t forget to bring:

Athletic clothes & swimsuit (modest)
Bible
Journal for notes
Money for lunch. (There are number of fine dining establishments in the area)
Your costume for the dance party!

Registration is from 4-7. Show up early and if you just put a deposit down, bring money!

THIS FRIDAY, SloCrusade under the stars!
Grab your beach blanket, some buddies, and get ready to worship spring quarter style, on campus and under the stars on Dexter Lawn! (Click Here for a Map) PARKING ON CAMPUS IS FREE!!

What a great way to celebrate the quarter, our community, and of course, Jesus.

We’ll start up at 7, so don’t be late!

Oh yeah, the whole family is invited so bring Mom and Dad too!

Sig Ep and Slo Crusade Car Wash

Calling the men of Sig Ep Fraternity and SLO Crusade!

On Sunday, February 13th from 2-5pm……..

We are joining forces for the most epic car wash of the century!

This event has 2 purposes:
1. To support Compass Education Foundation, a non-profit that provides scholarships to local healthcare students.
2. To bridge the gap between the SLO Crusade and Greek communities.

What to bring:
-Towels, paper towels, sponges, car soap, vacuums, or any other cleaning products you have.

Participation in car washing is strictly for Sig Ep and SLO Crusade guys, but anyone is welcome to drive through with their cars.

We will be asking car owners for donations to support Compass Education Foundation

Let’s get pumped and bring big numbers of guys out! This event has potential to be way more awesome than just a car wash!

Also, after the car wash we will be sending in a group of men to clean the Sig Ep house as well, as a way to serve them!

The Veritas Forum – Next Monday & Tuesday!

The Veritas Forum is bringing some amazing events this upcoming Monday through Tuesday that you do NOT want to miss!

(Seriously, if you have to miss it you’ll want to be sneaking the livestream online while you’re doing whatever it is that’s keeping you from coming!)

So, what is the Veritas Forum?

Well here’s what they have to say about themselves: “Engaging students and faculty in discussions about life’s hardest questions and the relevance of Jesus Christ to all of life.”

The word Veritas means truth in Latin, so naturally this year’s forum is titled “A Journey for Truth”
